Psychosocial distress screening tools

Good morning! I'm reaching out to see if anyone uses different psychosocial distress screening tools other than the distress thermometer. If so, please share! How do you measure increased distress if not using the thermometer?

I do not know of any other validated tools out there besides the Distress Thermometer and PHQ4 and PHQ9 that screen for anxiety and depression. We tried creating a tool years ago, that worked well when we piloted it. We found since we were performing research in our department we had to go back to the Distress Thermometer since ours was not a validated tool. It would be awesome to find something else that is a validated tool. We found the process for validating a tool you create is quite intensive unfortunately.

I did run across an article in the ASCO Journal weekly email a couple weeks ago referencing some work being done using the ESAS-R.  May want to do some additional searches related to it. I am fond of this tool but not sure if it will fully meet your needs.
