The changes reflect an increased focus and support for the AONN+ Foundation for Learning, Inc (FFL), certification and accreditation process and a shift in the structure of guidance within AONN+.
CRANBURY, NJ, March 24, 2021 – Every day, approximately 1700 Americans die from cancer. That adds up to more than 600,000 of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones perishing from these diseases each year. Early detection of cancer saves lives, lowers treatment costs, and increases quality of life for patients and their families. The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) is joining more than 300 organizations from all 50 states in signing a letter addressed to the US Congress in support of the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, which will expand the ability to screen for and detect more cancers.
CRANBURY, NJ, March 24, 2021 – The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Leadership Council has been closely reviewing how the COVID-19 pandemic affected cancer care delivery in 2020. In a combined team effort, led by Christian Downs, Executive Director of the Association of Community Cancer Centers, with support from Linda Fleisher, Principal Investigator at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Lillie Shockney, Co-Founder of AONN+, Rani Khetarpal, Vice President of Provider Partnerships at New Century Health, and Mandi Pratt-Chapman, Associate Center Director of Patient-Centered Initiatives and Health Equity for the George Washington Cancer Center, the Leadership Council devised how oncology service lines can remain strong and thoughtfully invest as they recover from the pandemic.
CRANBURY, NJ, March 15, 2021 – On February 25, 2021, the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) and the Alliance to Advance Patient-Centered Cancer Care hosted a webinar entitled “Evaluating the Sustainability of Oncology Navigation with the Navigation Metrics Toolkit.”
AONN+ signs letter in support of the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, which will expand our ability to screen for and detect more cancers.
This month, CONQUER: the patient voice released its fifth annual “Patient Guide to Cancer Support Services” issue, which aims to help patients and their caregivers, and nurse navigators, providers, and members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team become aware of the financial support services available to the patient. This guide is an easy-to-read, tabbed publication that ensures patients with cancer receive the best available treatment while alleviating some of their financial burdens.
AONN+ joins fellow cancer organizations in opposing new flexibilities that are being provided to Part D sponsors participating in the Medicare Part D Payment Modernization Model in 2022.
